Have you tried defragging your harddrive? There are a lot of sounds streamed from disc, and I've tested on a badly fragmented HD and got similar things happening as described here. Defragging it helped. I couldn't find any official documentation ...

This is very strange, we haven't seen anything like this. Please try playing an mp3 or something from the XMB, and also double check the settings from the neocom to make sure the audio volume wasn't turned down accidently. Keep me updated
